HomeWentworth Estate Roads CommitteeWERC Members and Staff

The Wentworth Estate Roads Committee consists of six elected residents:

Alexander Howard (Chairman) has an interest in the responsible improvement and development of the Estate. It shouldn’t be stuck in a time warp nor rush headlong into a new era where the Covenants and restrictions, that make this Estate what it is, are cast aside.  He believes in taking a measured approach that has the buy-in of all stake holders, which for the Estate, includes Wentworth Golf Club, developers, local businesses and of course the residents. Alex has the time, interest and energy to devote to being an active and unbiased member of the WERC working for the respectful and sustainable improvement of the Wentworth Estate and its environment.  Alex will be the representative for Lower Wentworth South.

Lorna Ponti has lived on the estate for over 31 years and, throughout that time, has witnessed a great deal of change. What drew her to the area initially was its suburban, tranquil and community atmosphere despite being so close to London and she thinks it is very important that this remains intact.  To achieve this, the safety of the residents is vital and she's pleased to see that progress has been made through a greater number of cameras on the estate and provision of street lighting. Lorna believe's more can be done to help protect the local community and the children within it. On the topic of the community, she is continuing to play an active role by helping to provide better healthcare for residents. In 2006 set up a fund raising event and the proceeds (over £600k) have helped to buy cancer equipment for local hospitals as well as raise awareness through cancer charities. Lorna will be the representative for Lower Wentworth North.

Carol Manduca is a semi-retired City finance lawyer (now teaching post graduate law students studying for professional exams) and has lived with her family on Wentworth since 1992. She has been a member of Wentworth Club for 30 years. Carol was appointed Secretary of the Wentworth Residents Association in 2014, and has benn involved in putting the residents' case on the Local Plan, and Heathrow expansion as well as in governance matters. She has led the WRA opposition to the sale of the Bourne car park and to a 24/7 refrigeration unit outside the old Barclays Bank building on Station Approach and has 3 years experience as a RBC Councillor, representing Virginia Water. Carol is also Treasurer of the Virginia Water Neighbourhood Forum which is working on the village-wide Neighbourhood Plan.
With the planning experience gained with RBC Carol will be a very useful member of WERC, along with her knowledge of the Wentworth Estate Act 1964 and the WRA constitution. Carol’s aim is to support improvements in openness, governance, and financial accountability. Carol will be the representative for Shops.

Nigel Moss has served 5 years as the WRA’s Chairman, he has lived on the Estate for the past 12 years with his family.  Professionally, he has spent 17 years overseas co-developing a fashion business to a multi-billion turn-over before selling to a US fashion conglomerate and then returned to the UK in 2006 to take charge of Team McLaren Ltd, a subsidiary of the McLaren Technology Group, to grow its revenues to fund McLaren Racing's Formula 1 team. He left McLaren after 12 years in mid-2018 to set up a consultancy that serves clients such Formula 1 (Liberty Media) and Aerospacemedic International, which is a new business start-up to provide medical certification and human performance programs for the fast growing space travel sector. Nigel will be the representative for Upper Wentworth.

Matteo Volpi has been a resident on the Wentworth Estate since 2015 and a homeowner since 2018 and lives here with his family and 4 dogs. He started his professional career in 1992 in Nigeria with the family business, Orlean Invest Africa, and has held various positions within the group up to becoming a director of the board. They worked in the oil and gas industry and logistics in different African countries. In 2017, he founded IO Materials Services, always in the oil industry but with more emphasis on technology, with the goal to create a global product. Matteo will be the representative for Middle Wentworth.
